Family member gone…

Ξ April 30th, 2006 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Uncategorized |

well, after having her for 15 years in the family, I sure miss her….

I is sad to let her go, but things must come to and end.

She has been sick, and giving us much trouble recently…

after accumulating too much heat in the body, and due to old age, most of her internals has failed….

for the last few weeks, she has been throwing tantrum, probably knowing that her time is not long….

I had problem bringing her out of the house this morning… I was not able to get her to move properly…

well… nevertheless… her time has come, and we shall miss her dearly…

thank you for serving my family for the alst 15years!

To tell you the truth, I know only 11 out of the 24, thats less than 50%…. that is pathetic… and they are deciding my life!

Why are we paying allowance to these people when their own ideas are not voiced, and are yes man most of their life in the Parliament?

Oh…. and make a guess, how many of them got into the Parliament without ever being contested (based on election 2001)…

Parliament dissolved

Ξ April 20th, 2006 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Uncategorized |

Now that the Singapore Parliament has dissolved… Singapore is officially NO GOVERNMENT, until the Party winning the majority of the vote appoints the new member of Parliament.

Now, that effectively means that Lee Hsien Loong is NOT our PM, Lee Kwan Yew is NOT our Ministor Mentor, and Goh Chok Thong is NOT our Senior Minister, and so are other titles and positions given to any other tom, dick and harry in the parliament, since these are Parliamentary Positions, and since Parliament has dissolved.

So, in line with what Lee Kwan Yew has said that “it is the job of the media to correct them (public)”*, I urge the press and media to stop adding whatever titles they may have previously, as this may affect voters psychologically.

They are now just CANDIDATES.

* Lee Kwan Yew said these words during during his “exchange” with 10 young Singaporeans on a TV program, aired on Channel 5 last week. The video clip can be watched at why my vote counts

Singapore calls general election for May 6

Singapore News ยป

SINGAPORE : Singaporeans will go to the polls on Saturday, May 6, which will now also be a public holiday.

Nomination Day is on Thursday, April 27.

Earlier on Thursday, President S R Nathan, on the advice of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, dissolved Parliament, paving the way for the polls.

This election will be Mr Lee’s first as Prime Minister.

He took over the post from Goh Chok Tong in August 2004, having been deputy prime minister since 1990.

The ruling People’s Action Party now controls all but two of the 84 seats in Parliament.

A government statement has listed 9 nomination centres.

They are Admiralty Secondary School, Bedok View Secondary School, Bendemeer Primary School, Bukit Panjang Government High School, Fajar Secondary School, Jurong Junior College, Ngee Ann Secondary School, Pei Chun Public School and Tao Nan School.

Candidates will have to turn up with the necessary election documents between 11am and 12noon on Nomination Day.

Admiralty Secondary School will be the Nomination Centre for Nee Soon Central, Nee Soon East and Sembawang GRC and Bedok View Secondary, for East Coast and Pasir Ris-Punggol GRCs.

Candidates for Potong Pasir and Jalan Besar and Tanjong Pagar GRC will file their papers at Bendemeer Primary School.

For Chua Chu Kang and Hong Kah GRC, it is at Bukit Panjang Government High School.

Fajar Secondary School is the nomination centre for Bukit Panjang and Holland-Bukit Timah divisions while Jurong and West Coast GRCs will file their papers at Jurong Junior College.

For Hougang and Tampines GRC, it is at Ngee Ann Secondary School.

Candidates for four divisions – Aljunied, Ang Mo Kio, Bishan-Toa Payoh and Yio Chu Kang – must file their papers at Pei Chun Public School.

At Tao Nan School, it will be for Joo Chiat, MacPherson and Marine Parade.

The Chief Executive Director of the People’s Association, Mr Tan Boon Huat, has once again been appointed the Returning Officer.

The election deposit per candidate is $13,500.

This is 8 per cent of the total allowances payable to an MP in the preceding year, rounded to the nearest $500.

The Returning Officer has issued further details on the conduct of the General Election.

Candidates can obtain the nomination forms from the Election Department between 10am and 4pm on weekdays and from 9am to 1pm on Saturday.

He has also approved 12 symbols which candidates can use for their identity. – CNA/ch/ct

now, isn’t the polling date supposed to be secret?

Finally, a new car!

Ξ April 16th, 2006 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Uncategorized |

ahh… I have been driving Mercedes Benz for the past 15 years or so (dad’s old car), and after much consideration for months, we decided that its time to change to something refreshing…

So, the decision to buy the Honda Odyssey EVX was firmed up today at KAH Motor.

$101,500 for the confirmed COE Bidding (i.e. I will get the car no matter what is the COE price, after 3 failed bids).

We get $1300 rebate for taking a $80k loan over 7 years, off the car price.

We get another 10% of OMV + 10% of COE price cash rebate from DBS for taking up such a loan.

KAH motor is paying me $13k for the COE rebate from our current car.

Thrown in:
Leather seats
DVD player
RyteKool
Front sensors
Car plate retention fee
Rear mirror
Custom floor mat

and the Sales person gave us another $1k off the car price.

Its gonna cost us $1186 per month for the next 7 years, but hey…. the whole family can finally be out in one car (instead of 2)!

Road Tax for the current car is more than $3k, and its drinking petrol like no one’s business.

In either case, we won’t lose much from getting a new car.

The suspension is darn hard for one thing, compared to the Merc I have been driving.

The body roll is minimal, and I love the sun roof!

So I present to you….

supposed date of General Elections 2006

Ξ April 13th, 2006 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Uncategorized |

Now, I know I have been pretty stubborn about the Election date to be in August.

But today, I got news from quite alot of teaching friends, that the elections will be held on 6th of May.

They are certain of the date because their Principal has already informed them to be back in school to assist the workers.

And I thought the date is supposed to be secret…

ACCA exams

Ξ April 13th, 2006 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Uncategorized |

You know, I am so proud of my wife!

She recently passed her ACCA exams, after stopping in the middle for more than 1 year, to give birth to our lovely son, after 5 long years.

And you know what?

She is among the top 10 scorers in Singapore, and is ranked number 31st worldwide in this round of the exams.

31st…. WORLDWIDE!

And her mother tongue is not even English!

I am so proud of her!

Therefore, if our son is smart, its definitely not inherited from me….
